Abbeygate Badminton Club

Badminton in Bury St Edmunds for over 50 years.

Abbeygate is a Badminton England Premier Club with club mark accreditation. "Premier Club recognises those clubs ensure a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages by meeting a minimum level of operating standards."

The club hall has four courts and has been specifically refurbished for badminton. We also exclusively use feather shuttles. We have both junior and senior club members, many who represent the County and some individuals that play tournaments at national level. This mix of good club to county to national level of play means that you can enjoy the opportunity to play some great badminton within a relaxed and highly sociable club.

The club has senior teams in all disciplines (mixed, ladies and men's) playing across the Bury and District League, Ipswich and District League and Newmarket League.

We believe in the growth of badminton and have developed a thriving Junior Club, many of whom have gone on to represent the club at senior level as well as county and some compete in national competitions.

Whether you are a club player looking for a good standard of play, a player returning to the game after a break, a junior looking for great coaching; we would welcome you. Due to our hectic match schedule and busy club nights we don’t have any coaching facilities for seniors so new members are invited to attend for up to three club nights as a guest to have the opportunity to experience the standard of play and allow the committee to assess your suitability. Any guest fees paid are deducted from the annual membership cost should you subsequently join the club.
